Antique Maha Lakshmi Hanging Lamp Brass bronze handmade 90+ years old, this is evident in the carving which is blunt due to age, also the colour of the lamp makes the statement of bronzecrafted meticulously by the 'now lost' - wax molding process whereas the images are carved in hand afterwards, this type of lamps are not seen nowadays and as they are not made this way so this lamp is a collectors pride, it weighs nearly 4 kilograms fully hand made and with fine detailing of all essential aspects of traditional auspicious requirements of a Mahalakshmi lamp - such as 14 auspicious anna paravai (Mythological birds) 7 on each arch and two Gaja vahanam on each side, with two lotus flowers in each hand, and two Yazhli mythological creatures at both ends holding the arch joining it to the base. This comes with an one foot chain to hang the lamp. This lamp was a part of the dowry given to my grandmother by her parents during her marriage and now she is 92 yrs old so one can deduce the age of the lamp, and this lamp is a symbol of wealth and prosperity since it portrays the wealth god Mahalakshmi in her full manifestations. The price is very less (Actually half the market price for new lamp and consider its antique value) compared to its antiquity and history and still i can negotiate a little for early buyers, since i am not a dealer and i want to sell this one and many other antiques belonging to my family to raise funds for a noble cause, so interested parties can rush to grab it since i have only one piece. Wooden lamp base–Wipe the base clean with a dry micro fibre cloth. To restore shine, use a soft cloth moistened a solvent-based furniture polish. Glass lamp base–Wipe the base with a soft cloth dampened with glass cleaning solution. Buff with a dry cloth to restore shine. Stainless steel base–Use a soft dampened cloth, dipped in warm water, and wipe down the base. Dry immediately using a soft towel. Brass lamps–Sometimes the patina that develops from regular use, adds to the character of the lamp.
