There is no denying the importance that English enjoys as a global language. To acquire social and professional success in this world, proficiency in this language has become a very significant factor for the youth of today. In fact, now with the whole world being connected through electronic means, the ability to speak well in English has taken predominance over other skills of this language. It may not be farfetched in saying that, one is now required to excel in speaking English as much as they are expected to be proficient in other core skills, to define success. The teaching of the speaking skill to ESL (English as a Second Language) learners has become more important than ever before. Abhiruchi is the Hobby Centre of School of Management Sciences Lucknow which focuses on the holistic development of the students by showcasing their latent talents in Co-Curricular Activities. There are four clubs under the aegis of Abhiruchi: Raag (Music); AKS (Photography); Chintan (literary)& Manchan (Drama). This time Abhiruchi hosted the competitions of Raag and AKS Club. There were the performances of students for solo song and solo dance under Raag Club. In the AKS club there was a display of photographs along with a narration by the students on the topics of: • Women Empowerment • Social Responsibility • Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan • Youth The highlight of the event was the presentation of play titled Musafir Kissonwala which was thematically based on the issue of gender sensitization. This presentation was the part of endeavour by Abhiruchi team at SMS Lucknow to sensitize the students towards this burning social issue. The event was graced by Mr. Sharad Singh (CEO SMS Lucknow), Dr. B. R. Singh (Director General (Technical)), Dr. Dharmendra Singh (Dean Academics), HODs and Faculty Members of SMS Lucknow. Dr. P. K.
