Flower Size 1 to 2" [2.5 to 5 cm] Found in Hainan China, Assam, Bangladesh, eastern Himalayas, India, Maldive Islands, Nepal, Sri Lanka, western Himalayas, Andaman Islands, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Borneo, Java, Sumatra, Lesser Sunda Islands, Sulawesi and Queensland Australia as a large sized, hot to cool growing, epiphytic and occasional lithophytic species often refered to As D pierardii or D cucullatum [and is a pink flower] that occurs at altitudes of 150 to 1800 meters in evergreen lowland forests and primary montane forests with slender, pendulous, leafy stems carrying linear-lanceolate or narrowly ovate, acuminate, deciduous leaves that blooms almost at any time of the year but the most common is in the winter and spring with a short inflorescence that arises from the nodes of older leafless canes having 1 to 3, fragrant, shortlived, fragile flowers, clustered close to the cane that are strongly scented of violets. Mounting is a nessesity to accomodate the pendant canes and a drier winter rest with no fertilizer is essential to ensure early spring blooming. Start watering and fertilizing with the onset of new growth. Plant will be shipped bare roots with moss wrapped around its roots
