Fail/ Pass students who fail in the board exams. You can pass class 10/12 in the same academic year!!! NIOS is an educational board, just like CBSE, CISCE etc. It comes under Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. Hence, its authenticity & recognition can't be doubted. A student can appear in almost all the national level entrance exams like JEE (Mains & Advanced), AIPMT, CLAT etc. with an NIOS certificate. For failed/dropout students, a feature called the on-demand exam is available in NIOS. As the name suggests, one can appear in this exam if one fails in one or more subjects in the board exam. He/she just has to hand over the mark-sheet of the exam in which he/she appeared. One can only give the paper he/she has failed in the board exams. For example, if one has failed only in Physics in CBSE, he/she can sit & pass in the on-demand Physics exam of NIOS. The same marks of the other passed subjects will be transferred to the NIOS certificate & one will be able to save a year in the process. The syllabus of NIOS is very similar to that of CBSE. So, a student from CBSE will not have to learn much extra. But unlike CBSE, the syllabus of NIOS consists of two classes/years. It means the NIOS exam for class 12 will contain portions of both classes 11 & 12. But the questions in the exams will be easier than that of CBSE.
