STEINS GATE (PS VITA) IN MUMBAI
Steins;Gate is a classic Sci-fi visual novel in its purest form. If you don't know what a visual novel is, think of an e-picture book choose your own adventure sort of affair and that is generally what S;G is like. This isn't the sort of game you play for high scores or combat, it's all text and beautiful art so know this going in. This is the European/PAL release of the Steins;Gate's Vita version, which is in full English. Publisher Pqube licensed the JAST USA PC localization to bring the PS3 and Vita versions westward. There's a few grammatical errors or even a missing word or two along the way but ultimately the translation is still very good. As an owner of both the US PC Collector's version and the Vita version I will say I find myself preferring the Vita version. The UI layout works nice and neatly on the Vita and the visuals took pretty much no loss. For a little background on the plot, Steins;Gate follows the unlikely story of the eccentric Okabe Rintaro (who insists on being called Hooooououin Kyooooouma!!!) and his makeshift lab crew as they stumble upon a strange time travel phenomenon from one of their odd experiments. Besides its plot the cast is what makes Steins;Gate memorable and it's a quirky one. To elaborate just a bit Okabe comes across initially as absolutely silly and hyperbolic in presentation with a firm insistence that he is a mad scientist while his friend Daru plays the techie role with more than a dash of memetic/internet culture and otaku tendencies. I won't unveil the whole group but like any good VN the character interactions invest you in the experience, which S;G delivers on. If you're not interested in waiting for the US launch of the console versions of Steins;Gate this PAL print is more than satisfactory with no real difference from the coming US print other than age rating and region network availability it seems.
