WOOD CARVINGS IN ROSEWOOD AND TEAK IN INDIA

Images carved into magnificent roots of rosewood and teak, without altering the original shape of the root. The roots are of extremely old trees and hard to come by. The images engraved include a mermaid; a kangaroo with joey, squirrel knawing on a nut; and beautiful female figures. Attachments are provided so that they can be used as shelves or stands for curios. One of the pieces is a large irregularly shaped chunk of root which is fashioned into a teapoy. It has fine lines etched all over the side, their intricacy adding to its beauty without detracting from its hoary base.
