PINK VELVET BANANA~ Musa velutina HARDY Flowering Ornamental PLANT seeds pack of 20 seeds The Musa velutina is a revered fruiting banana commonly grown here in Hawaii. Ornamental bananas are the current rage of landscaping. Generally divided into two categories, the classification of bananas consist edible and     ornamental bananas. Musa coccinea, with its lanky form and burgundy foliage, gives a dramatic accent to any bed of greens. The very similar Musa ornata and Musa coccinea both     produce upright lotus-like bracts, but it's the display of pink fruits that makes Musa velutina showier. Musa velutina, although not as common as the aforementioned species, is     also a must-have for its orange-red-pink bracts that scream for attention. Velvet pink banana is an excellent indoor plant and is one of the few bananas that will actually flower and bear fruit indoors. It prefers a shady location, but tolerates full sun. The flowers are female and male. Sometimes there are hermaphrodite flowers; they are     self-pollinated. Viable seed is then produced.     Under good conditions Velvet Pink Banana grows to maturity quickly. When ripe, the edible, pink bananas, with a velvety skin split open at the tip and reveal the white flesh.     Flowers are pink to orange with 2' long glossy green leaves. The fruits are reddish pink and velvety and are very ornamental.
