Momentive Boron Nitride Spray is a protective material used to prevent glass from sticking to slumping and bending molds at elevated temperatures. An alternative to spraying shelf primer onto a hot mold, Momentive Boron Nitride forms a durable layer that will last for many firings. Easy to use, simply spray this aerosol release onto a room temperature mold (wear a dust mask and spray outside only please). To date this is the best release agent we have found for preparing metal or ceramic molds for slumping and bending. This 13-ounce container will prime about 20 medium molds. You may need to touch up the areas where the glass touches the mold after 4 or 5 firings. It works best if you never fire it above 1350F or 730C. This line of products offers an economical way to achieve many of the benefits of BN in a wide range of applications. The NX line makes BN accessible to users of alternate materials, such as aluminum nitride, alumina, and fused silica, who may have previously ruled out BN. NX grades are all fine hexagonal crystalline powders (95%- 100% -325 mesh), and are available in a range of purities and surface areas to suit your specific applications. NX1 Grade NX1 is an ultrafine grade with a submicron mean particle size, making it easy to disperse. It also has the highest surface area of the NX grades. NX5 NX5 has a mean particle size of approximately 5 microns. It contains slightly higher oxygen levels than typical BN grades. Hot-pressed BN is compacted at temperatures up to 2000 C and pressures up to 2000 psi to form a dense, strong engineering material that is easily machined. It is available in standard and custom shapes and has several unique properties which make it valuable in a wide range of challenging industrial applications. Four Material Grades Grades HBC and HBT are our highest purity hot-pressed boron nitrides. They are diffusion bonded and feature a low dielectric constant, minimal moisture pick-up and low loss tangent making them ideal for electronic applications. Grade HBT, although lower in strength and density than HBC, is available at lower cost and shorter lead times. Grade HBN uses small amounts of boric oxide as a binder; it is used in applications where hydration and thermal shock are not a concern. Grade HBR uses calcium borate as a strengthening binder and is moisture insensitive. Thermal Management of Electronic Devices The unique combination of electrical resistivity and thermal conductivity makes BN an ideal heat sink in high power electronic applications. High Temperature Applications Temperature stability and excellent resistance to thermal shock make BN the material of choice in the toughest high temperature applications such as plasma arc welding and semiconductor processing. Molten Metal Handling BN is inorganic, inert and is not wet by most molten metals and slags, nor does it react with halide salts or other reagents.
