Backup and recovery - Generating recoverable physical full backup of database - Generating recoverable archive(incremental) backup of database - Designing backup retention policy according to space requirement - Generating logical database backup as per needed - Refreshing test database from production database - Verifying integrity of physical and logical backups of databases - Verifying recoverability of physical database Database maintenance - Verifying database fragmentation periodically and clearing as per needed - Generating database statistics periodically to anticipate performance of inbound queries - Removing needless database files from server to maintain space on server - Verifying database corruption periodically on servers - Installing and upgrading database extensions as per requirements - Performing database to one major version another major version with minimum downtime - Performing minor upgrade on database server - Creating and maintaining database on clusters - Maintaining space availability on database server and co-ordinate with concern team - Meeting RPO(Recovery point objective) and RTO(Recovery time objective) of database - Supporting database unavailability issues to meet database uptime - Troubleshooting database level priority issues(excluding plpgsql development) and provide solution - Maintaining database partitions on database and automate creation High availability - Setting up real-time unidirectional streaming replication on server - Setting up read-only transactions load balancing between master and standby servers to improve scability - Setting logical replication for long-running reporting queries purpose - Performing failover to available slave server in case of failure - Performing switchover between master and standby servers Security - Blacklisting and whilelisting IP addresses as per requirement - Maintaining object, schema and database level access - Performing column level encryption on database Performance tuning - Periodically generating performance report and analyzing It - Periodically verifying database performance on the server - Troubleshooting instant performance issues on the server and analyzing as per requirement - Identifying performance bottleneck with database, operating system and hardware - Identifying and tuning SQL queries as per requirement - Verifying requirement of instance and OS kernel tuning on server - Verifying and recommending normalization and denormalization of database Others: -Proactive monitoring of DB. -System set up or Data base load balancing set up. -Support for DR set up. -Control access permissions and privileges -Carry out capacity planning -Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security -Commission and install new applications and customize existing applications in order to make them fit for purpose
